GETTING STARTED SETTINGS the full version is about USD 5). According to an article at Android Authority, setup should be as easy as : Plug in the USB cable, start the app, let it auto-configure (manual configuration is available as well) - and there you go. You can also let it ask you to connect when it finds an USB-connection. Manual methods using Wifi I know, this is not USB - but for completeness (and giving alternatives) I thought I might add these as well: fiddling with the system and patching around Several manual methods are available as well (and described e.g. at XDA) - but they are mostly technically complex, and expecting you to patch system files; not for the every-day-user, but rather for the tech-freak. Terminal and go However, another nice method should just involve 3 lines in the terminal, and is described in a post here, to connect to an ad-hoc Wifi network. Basically, it should go like this: su ifconfig wlan0 up iwconfig mode auto; iwconfig wlan0 essid your SSID channel 11 mode auto ifconfig wlan0.x netmask manipulating some config file Another quite easy method is also described here, and involves editing the wpa_supplicant.conf file once (manually adding your ad-hoc Wifi network). Easy- Peasy method Do I need to say, really? Use a Wifi router. There are even some small Travel routers around for less than USD 50. And then connect your phone like you use to connect it to other Wifi networks.

I have just bought a HTC Desire Z mobile phone, running Android 2.2. It has a feature to allow, via the USB cable, use of the Internet connection on a PC so that the phone can connect via that, rather than use the 3 G or wi fi when those are not available or not wanting to use them. I want to download lots of applications without draining my 3 G data allowance. I have searched via Google, and some people have said that it just worked for them. They plugged in the phone to their Ubuntu PC and they could use the Internet on the phone. But I cannot get it to work. I am new to Android, and still figuring out the phone. In the Settings/ Wireless Cannot install this hardware There was a problem installing this hardware HTC MTP Device An error occured during the installation of this device The required section was not found in the INF So, can anyone give me a clue as to what is going wrong? Re: HTC One S Jelly bean issue, not connecting to PC I am also having this problem. which is really lame as I need to transfer files to make room for New Years Eve pics/vids etc. I also had an issue with my internet when I had the update and also one of my online games no longer works. what a great update! *sarcasm* Any help on this issue would be massively appreciated! Re: HTC One S Jelly bean issue, not connecting to PC This still not been resolved? I'm having a slightly different problem. Currently running Mac OS X and can also no longer get the old disk mode since Jelly Bean update. It has installed HTC Sync Manager (really annoy POS so it must recognise the device. Just can't access the phone storage in the library! Re: HTC One S Jelly bean issue, not connecting to PC Using airdroid app to transfer data to computer is an alternative solution Some are having issues using windows 8, install latest HTC sync software Sent from my HTC One S using Android Central Forums Re: HTC One S Jelly bean issue, not connecting to PC Hi guys. Did anyone find a solution for this.? I am having the same problem with my HTC One S C2, for me it happened after I got an OTA update, not the Jelly bean one though. I am hoping that the jelly bean update will fix it, which I am yet to receive. Regards, Vishnu Re: HTC One S Jelly bean issue, not connecting to.
